This upgrade guide applies only to upgrading from 9.2d or 9.3 to 9.4. For instructions upgrading from any other version, please contact Webtrends Technical Support (https://www.webtrends.com/support/).
If your environment requires a "hardened" server configuration for maximum security, you should implement the security hardening measures after the installation is complete. Webtrends Technical Support does not provide assistance with hardening or recovering from errors caused by hardening.
If you desire to update your Geotrends file while you’re upgrading, please obtain the file from Webtrends Technical Support prior to running the installer.
Unhide the Bin in IIS
- Open the Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager under Administrative Tools.
- Expand the current server.
- Expand Sites.
- Double-click Request Filtering.
- Click the tab for Hidden Segments.
- If the Bin folder is listed, click on Bin to highlight it and then click Remove on the right.
- Close the Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
Run the Analytics Installer
Log in as the Domain Service Account user (the account running the Webtrends Services).
Extract the Webtrends_9.5.zip file.
Right-click on the Webtrends 9_5.exe and select “Run As Administrator”.
Select the drive and location to extract the installer to, this should be your installation drive/folder.
Click Extract and Run Setup.
Click Next on the “Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard for Webtrends”.
If you haven’t created a backup of your Webtrends Storage location and databases (wtMaster and WT_Sched) stop now and do that. If you have, click Yes.
NoteIf you are on a virtual machine, creating a snapshot of your machine is a sufficient, and even preferred method for creating a backup prior to upgrade.
Accept the license agreement and click Next.
Verify the components installed. A typical install includes:
- Webtrends Master Database
- Reporting and Administration
- Standard Analysis Engine
- GeoTrends Data File
NoteIf you aren’t presented with a list of installed components, but instead asked if you want to start a new installation or continue an existing installation, stop and contact Webtrends Technical Support.
Click Next.
Enter the password of the Service Account user and click Next.
If you had, or selected to install, Geotrends on your machine you will be prompted to browse to the Geotrends dat file. If you haven't already been provided the GeoTrends data file, contact Technical Support and they can provide it to you. Click Browse and navigate to the file.
Click Next.
Click Install. When the installation finishes the base Webtrends installation is complete. You will be prompted to reboot the machine.
Validate the installation by double-clicking the Webtrends On Premises desktop icon to open the login dialog.
Type the installing user name and password and click Log in. If licensing information was not provided during the installation, you are prompted to activate your license.
