Import Data Into Excel

You can use Excel 2013, Excel 2016, or Excel 2019 (see note) to import data with web services.

Note: Set the suppress_error_codes parameter to true. Otherwise, requests that return any HTTP status code other than 200 (success) cause Excel to disable the connections for such requests. Setting suppress_error_codes=true ensures that all errors return a 200 status code to Excel, but the message text associated with the error still appears.

1. Open Excel.
2. Create a URL for the report you want. Specify the "HTML" format for Excel versions 2016 and below, and CSV for Excel 2019 and Power BI. Also ensure that you have a valid start period and end period for the report (data may not exist for all time periods).
3. Copy the URL to the clipboard.
4. Select "Data" from the menu ribbon and then "From Web".
5. Paste the URL into the Address field and click Go.
6. A dialog box appears. For User name, provide your user name.
   If an error was suppressed, the error message text appears.
7. Click Import.
8. The Import Data dialog box appears with the existing worksheet and current cell selected.
9. Click OK.
